How It Works
Prior to your visit:
- Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly. It’s always best to wear comfortable closed-toed shoes.
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
- Please watch the video & read the notes below with tips on the proper picking technique. We appreciate your respect and care for our peach trees and grounds.
When you arrive:
1. Park in the long-term parking lot on the grass. Look for U-Pick parking signs. (Do not park in the paved lot. This is for short-term and handicap parking only.)
2. Proceed to the big white tent with the green entrance flag to purchase your bags.
3. Follow staff directions to the tractor shuttle area.
After your picking experience, head over to our Farm Kitchen building where you can grab lunch items PLUS peach ice cream, slushies, and more.
Our Farm Store is also open with tons of local goodies and fresh fruits and veggies.
How To Pick
- Ripe peaches are plump with a deep yellow background color with a nice dark red blush all the way up to the stem of the fruit.
Pick only the ripe peaches and leave the green peaches to ripen for a later day. - Ripe peaches should be firm to the touch and will soften once picked and left at room temperature for a day or so.
- Pick with the palm of your hand (not so much your fingers) and give it a twist (you do not want to tug or pull) - ripe peaches should remove easily from the branch.
- All produce should be washed before eating at home. Please do not consume peaches in the field.
- Children must be under adult supervision at all times.
- When you get home… get the peaches out of the plastic bag and spread them out on your countertop with the stems facing down. Keep them 1-2 inches apart so they are not touching.
- If you want to speed up the softening process, put a couple of peaches in a brown paper bag and roll off the top to close the bag. Within 24-48 hours, you'll have perfectly softened peaches!
- Do not wash peaches until right before you are ready to eat them.
- No pets are allowed on the farm due to food safety guidelines.
- Only pick in the rows designated by Fifer staff for that particular day.
The peach tree rows mature at different times, so if you get in the wrong row, you will be getting immature peaches that will not ripen and don't taste good.
We work hard to keep Fifer Orchards clean and enjoyable. Please do not leave trash in the fields. Trash cans are available for your convenience.
Thank you for respecting our peach trees and treating our farm with care.
